About the artist

Luis Colomo (born 1990) is a painter, portrait artist and muralist born in El Paso, Texas and raised on both sides of the Rio Grande. In 2014 he graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor’s in Fine Arts with concentration in painting and minor studies in graphic design. He has more than 20 years of experience as a workshop student in the fine arts program at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, where he has developed skills in the techniques of painting, watercolor, figure drawing, pastel and sculpture. Luis has exhibited his works at numerous collective and individual exhibitions as well as public art venues in Mexico and the United States. In 2009, one of his works was selected by former Senator Eliot Shapleigh to be exhibited at the capitol building in Washington D.C.  His portraits have been presented to figures like Denise Dresser, Alondra de la Parra, Juan Gabriel, Regina Spector, and Sarah Brightman, to mention a few. Some of his pieces are currently in private collections in Canada, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and Mexico.

Luis currently lives in Mexico City where he studies art and history. He also teaches English and enjoys to give tours of the city to foreigners that visit the country.
